FAITHBOOK: in a
word…Jesus!
Matt 21:9 "Blessed
is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"
John 1:1 & 14
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The Word became flesh and made his
dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only,
who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Phil 2:5-11 Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature
God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made
himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human
likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became
obedient to death — even death on a cross!
Therefore God
exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name
that is above every name, that at
the name
of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the
earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God
the Father.
I have discovered 5 categories in the New Testament
about the word:
The are Prayer, Persecution, Healing, Salvation and Proclamation
# 1 PRAYER
************
Matt 18:20
Jesus said, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I
with them."
Luke 11:2
Jesus said to them, "When you pray, say: "'Father, holy is your name”
John 14:13-14
And I
will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the
Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
************
# 2 PERSECUTION
Luke 21:12-13 on account of my name
But
before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will
deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and
governors, and all on account of my name.
1 Peter 4:14 count it a blessing
If you are insulted because of
the name
of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
John 17:11-12 Jesus prays for us
Holy
Father, protect them by the power of your name — the name you gave me — so that
they may be one as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them and kept
them safe by that name you gave me.
Rev 3:8-9 you are faithful
I know
your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I
know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not
denied my name.

# 3 HEALING
Acts 3:6-7 lame
man at the temple
Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I have I give you.
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk."
Acts 3:16 continuing
to the crowd with lame man at the temple
By faith in the name
of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name
and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to
him, as you can all see.
Acts 4:9-10 continuing
to the authorities with lame man at the temple
If we are being called to
account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he
was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name
of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the
dead, that this man stands before you healed.
Luke 10:17 returning
after being sent out by Jesus 2 x 2
The seventy-two returned with
joy and said, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name."

# 4 SALVATION
John 20:30, 31 written
so you can believe
Jesus did many other miraculous
signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But
these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of
God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
Acts 4:12 only
one way to salvation
Salvation is found in no one
else, for there is no other name under
heaven given to men by which we must be saved.
1 John 3:23-24
And this is his command: to
believe in the name of his
Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.
John 1:12-13
Yet to all who received him, to
those who believed in his name, he gave
the right to become children of God—
Acts 2:21 Everyone can
have salvation
And everyone who calls on the name
of the Lord will be saved.'
Rom 10:13 Again; everyone
can have salvation
"Everyone who calls on the
name
of the Lord will be saved."
Acts 10:43 Yet
again; everyone can have salvation
All the prophets testify about
him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.
1 John 2:12 forgive
by his name
I write to you, dear children,
because your sins have been forgiven on account of his name.
1 Cor 6:11 sanctified
by his name
But you were washed, you were
sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit
of our God.
Acts 22:16 Get
going by his name
And now what are you waiting
for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on his name.'

# 5 PROCLAMAITON
Acts 5:40-42
Gamaliel’s speech persuaded the
Sanhedrin who had arrested the apostles. They called the apostles in and had
them flogged. Then they ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. The apostles
left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering
disgrace for the Name. Day after
day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching
and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Christ.
Phil 2:5-11
Jesus: who, being in very
nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but
made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human
likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became
obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the
highest place and gave him the name that is
above every name, that at the name
of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and
every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
